It was great to hear about some of the future housing and community prospects for Winslade Estate and New Cross Gate Ward at large. Cllrs Aisha Malik-Smith & Will Cooper, Laura Luckhurst and more spoke with us about the NCIL funding for 2025 -27 and shared some background on the Community Infrastrcture Levy, and presented the projects which were recommended for funding.
The total fund for Lewisham Borough was £2,553,243 and for New Cross Gate Fund, £141,910.36 with timeframes from July 2024 and completed deliverables hoped for July 2027.
NCIL funds closed for application 23rd Sept 2024, assessed from Oct-Dec and are currently being presented.

22 applications were received fo New Cross Gate with a total request for £554,804.44, with recommended funding for Winslade Estate for £50,000 to improve the 2 of the 6 children’s playgrounds. Lewisham Housing Services are “keen to offer a safe area for young residents to play safely, offering an opportunity for families living on the estate to come together.”

The topic of double glazed windows estate wide was discussed in depth, as residents, homeowners, community leaders and tenants feel that it has been over 20 years since their first requests and concerns were raised and with the new proposition from the council they are keen to lean more about this development.
